Title: Using Ad Management Mod for Photo Hack
Post by: yeehaa on January 21, 2007, 08:24:18 AM
I'm wondering if the Ad Management Mod can be used to Display small photos at the top of the forum, or at another  location allowed by the mod.

Here is a vBulliten site that uses a javascript to do this- I can see the javascript in the source view but I don't know Javascript-

http://www.advrider.com/forums/

This java script displays different photos with each new page that must be referencing a folder location on the server.

I'm running SMF 1.1.1 and do have a test forum to try this on.

If this could work, it would be a great addition to any forum where members show lots of images.

Thanks in advance!

The ad mod can be used for whatever you want to display.
If i wanted, i could just type in "hello everyone" and have it display as an "ad"
You arn't at all limited to just putting ads.
For example, the donate button up top is set up in the ad mod.

Any Idea on how I could get it to work like Advrider?

What code would you be using?

I don't know, that's the problem. I think they are using a javascript (according to what I could see by viewing the page source info).

If this could be figured out it would be a great addition to SMF and Ad Management capabilities. I just wish I knew how to do it.

I guess that I could-

What happens at Advrider (using vBulletin) is that there are a series of photos saved in a folder on the sever.

These photos change each time that the page at the forum changes as you navigate, giving the member new photos to view as they cruise the forum.

Check it out at the top of the page-
