I have followed all the instructions and have added the html code as well, using the ad management tab, but the ads don't appear? can someone help here?

That theme is no longer the default theme. http://forum.optionpundit.net/index.php?theme=1
You will need to look in the theme board to add it to the custom theme.

Thank you. When I changed to new defualt theme, the adverts are now showing. Appreciate your help.
