« on: April 21, 2007, 08:07:30 am »
I am getting error message while trying to install it (after uploading it on the server):
An Error Has Occurred!
You cannot download or install new packages because the Packages directory or one of the files in it are not writable!

I have set rights of all below files to 777
Sources/ModSettings.php
Themes/default/index.template.php
Themes/default/BoardIndex.template.php
Themes/default/MessageIndex.template.php
Themes/default/Display.template.php
Themes/default/languages/Modifications.english.php

Help needed!

Thanks in advance!!!

You might attempt to create a temp folder in the Packages directory and chmod to 777.

That was my impression when I responded.  I was also able to upload, it is in the installation process that it needs the temp file.  Upload is nothing more than a ZIP file.  The installation needs the temp file.

Hope this helps.

Create a temp folder inside the packages folder and chmod them both to 777 just like Sapient has stated.

I have this folder in Packages but I get following error when I try to change the permission of this folder:

550 Could not change perms on /public_html/forum/Packages/temp: Operation not permitted

Any idea...

Please talk to your host about that error. They may have to "re-own" your files.
