Oxygen problem

I did some searching but didn't find my specific problem.  I used the pre-built template files for Oxygen after trying to manually update it myself.  Both have the same effect.

I want to add an ad after the first post of every topic.  I put in "1" for "Display ads within posts" and it shows up after the first post, but only in the far left profile section, not as though it's a post.  For longer banner ads this has the effect of cutting off the ad, plus there's a whole section of empty space where the post would normally go.

I also have "Ads within posts look like actual posts" checked. 

Any ideas how I can get the ad to show up in the post area instead?
