Title: SMF 1.1 and v2 smfads mod
Post by: devnet on December 05, 2006, 09:27:20 AM
Can't seem to get this to work....

The index page ads work fine and display fine when I enable them.  However, when I try to enable ads inside individual forum threads, it doesn't work.  I've enabled ads for all user groups (of which I have many) but the ads still do not display.

Is this a permissions thing?  What user account does the ad system use to post?  Perhaps this is the problem?

Change your theme to the default theme and check if the ads are there.

I switched to the default (for myself in my profile) and had no success on this.  Thanks for the quick reply.

Tried to troubleshoot this as well...

1.  Uninstalled all mods
2.  Replaced all default forum files
3.  Re-installed all previous mods
4.  Still no dice...ads don't display.

I'm still thinking it's a permissions problem...I previously set the 'banner' user with no access...will this effect things?

I'm not sure. Since you are admin, you are forced to see the ads regardless.
Visit the theme board and make sure that all the edits were done correctly.

This is odd...the edits were made correctly..

I'm sometimes seeing the ads...and other times not.  I'm NOT seeing them more often than I'm seeing them.

This is very strange.  Perhaps it is because I'm using a bridge? (orstio's Joomla bridge for 1.1)

Are you always using the default theme when you browse your board?

Figured this one out...

It seems that without me setting things to block, that adblock for firefox (extension) is blocking things randomly.  When I uninstalled adblock, the ads began to display properly.  Very odd.
